Without the support of our Volunteers, Joe Ford Nature Center would not be able to continue to expand on providing educational programs, services and events for our community.
Forest Restoration and Grounds Keeping: Assist with plant and trail maintenance in the Joe Ford Nature Park. Work to remove invasive species and cut back overgrowth from trail system. Other duties include but are not limited to: pulling weeds, and cleaning up litter. Minimum equipment is provided and tools operated by power are not permitted. This is a great way to give back to the community while enjoying the fresh air and sunshine outside or for families to get physical activity while giving back!
Custodial: Responsible for cleaning and maintaining indoor areas at the Joe Ford Nature Center.
Maintenance/ Special Projects: Help build and repair structures both indoors. These projects include but not limited to: building and maintaining enclosures for JFNC animals, building and maintaining playhouse/area equipment, and maintaining and building the hardscapes of trails, fitness stations and grounds.
Fundraising Committee: This group is focused on finding funding opportunities to present to the Board of Directors and participate in outreach opportunities such as our "hissing" booth in which donations are collected.
Educational Assistant: Educational Assistants work with JFNC staff to provide a fun, safe, and enriching experience for students on field trips and in school settings offsite. Duties include leading hikes, games, and activities for students.
Program Volunteer: Volunteers assist Staff with seasonal camps and other small scale programs offered throughout the year.
Building Volunteer: Responsible for working inside the building during business hours to answer phones, greet and supervise guest and do light housekeeping.
Special Events: Special Event Volunteers provide support and services during large events such as but not limited to fundraisers, festivals, award ceremonies and dinners.
