Grace Aline Carter was born to Gertie and William Earl Carter in Jefferson County on April 12, 1933. She graduated with the last class of all girls at Louisville's Shawnee High School in 1950. Following that she attended Georgetown College of Kentucky, met, married, and later divorced Norbert G. Taylor. Their three sons are Gary, Kenneth, and Ron.
Grace married Joe Ford in 2000 and then in 2005 convinced Joe that there was
a place for the Joe Ford Library in the community. Under her direction, JFL now
continues at Joe Ford Nature Center within the Joe Ford Nature Park.
Grace Ford writes the weekly column "Nature Notes" in the Messenger-Inquirer. This column is dedicated to nature-related topics and alerts the community of upcoming events and programs at Joe Ford Nature Center. It can be found in the Community section on Wednesdays.
